About Ikhwa Network
A modern brotherhood, patiently built for a lifetime.
Ikhwa means brothers. Ikhwa Network is a 21+ community for men from migrant, refugee, second-generation and multicultural diaspora backgrounds across Aotearoa New Zealand — grounded in identity, oriented to purpose, and committed to each other for the long haul.

Our story
Born from what was missing.
Ikhwa Network began in living rooms and cafés across Auckland — a handful of diaspora men noticing the same quiet reality. There was no shortage of good men in our communities. There was a shortage of rooms where we could show up as our full selves, grow with intention, and be shaped by elders who had walked our road.
We are not an American college fraternity. We are not a religious or political organisation. We are a considered, culturally-grounded network of men who take one another — and the next generation — seriously.
We are inspired by the older traditions of brotherhood our families carried across oceans, and by the young Aotearoa we are helping shape.
What we believe
Values we hold, not slogans we sell.
Rooted in identity
We honour where our people come from — languages, faiths, foods, memories — as strength, not baggage.
Truthful with each other
We choose honest, kind conversation over posturing. What is said in circle stays in circle.
Intergenerational
Elders guide. Peers walk together. Emerging men are welcomed. Every man plays every role in time.
Practical about growth
We work on real things — careers, families, wellbeing, money, leadership — with rigour and warmth.
Committed to Aotearoa
We are of these islands now. We build for the long life of our communities here.
Service before status
The measure of a brother is what he lifts — not what he owns, wears or performs.
What we are not
Clarity, so we build the right thing.
- Not a fraternity, secret society or club of hierarchy and initiations.
- Not a religious organisation, mosque, church or faith-based programme.
- Not a political party, movement or lobbying group.
- Not a hustle culture network chasing status and access.
- Not a men's-rights or grievance-oriented community.
